Greece – Politics

In small town, farming villages and cities alike, from the oldest to the youngest, everyone is sitting down and having serious discussions about the future of their country. There is a deep recognition of the internal and external problems at hand. The politicians at the national level sell the country out to foreign interests: Europe, the EU, Germany, the American banks, etc. The internal politicians loot the people. Pervasive corruption and fraud are recognized. All politicians are thieves. Papademos and Papandreou have destroyed Greece.

It’s said that everyone has a little crazy in them. Politics in Greece is does not change that. American politics? It’s easy. Democrat? Republican? Obama? There is no difference. They’re all capitalists, owned by the banks – JPM, Morgan Stanley, whoever. Greek politics is different. The Greeks have socialists, communists, nazis, fascists, capitalists, and mant other crazies trying to take control of their country.

People living in the smaller towns and villages outside the two major metro areas survive despite the harsh economic winter that has fallen on the land. They raise chickens, goats – animals of all kind. They have small and large gardens, growing everything and anything they can. Everyone grows food.

The people are eating from the garbage cans…in the cities. Things are very bad. The villages in the countryside survive because they are able to grow and raise their food locally. The cities starve and the villages survive – for now.

We must have good leaders who are for the people. Nothing will change until the corrupt politicians are sent out to hang and the winds of true change fall upon the sails of Greece. Many people in the world have an opinion of what Greece should do, but most are actually just self interested – they have their own motivations in mind, not the interests of the Greek people.

People do everything right: we go to work, we pay our taxes, we work hard but it doesn’t pay off, it doesn’t matter. The tax collectors slip more and more into their own pockets before passing it on to more government employees who steal as well. Fees and Taxes are ridiculously high, it’s not nickel and dime status, it’s a few hundred euros here and a few hundred euros there and suddenly all your paycheck is gone and you don’t have enough money to buy food or pay rent at the end of the day. Yet none of that money stays to help the country. It just makes the rich more golden while the rest of Greece rots. The people of Greece are being squeezed for cash from all sides and yet – the foreigners want to stomp over here and force everyone to pay taxes for crimes they didn’t commit with money no one actually has?

We have to solve the problems with the government first because tourism, manufacturing, whatever the solution you may have for growth – it won’t matter if the corrupt stay in power. If Greece leaves the Euro and keep the corrupt politicians, it will destroy what is left of the country. The current batch will attempt to print their way to prosperity – and the country will end up like Zimbabwe – or worse – Weimar: buy one, get another World War free!. Regardless of what happens – hard times are here to stay for the immediate future, no matter the results of the election.
